Whenever you head to Tybee Island, there always seem to be something interesting going in. Many of the annual shows, events and entertainment is put on by the Tybee Arts Association in conjunction with Tybee Island Tourism Council. For art lovers, one of the highlights of the calendar is the Tybee Arts Association Show and Sale which takes place on several weekends throughout the year.
What to See at the Tybee Art Show and Sale
The Tybee Island Art Show and Sale is one of the key events for Tybee Island tourism. This popular event attracts thousands of visitors over a three-day weekend.
Art in its many forms can be seen on display and you may even be able to purchase one of the works of art to take home with you as the ultimate souvenir of your visit. The Tybee Art Show features many local artists with paintings of the area around Savannah, historic Bluffton and the charming historic homes and fishing port at nearby Beaufort.
More unusual artworks include driftwood sculptures, no doubt inspired by living by the sea in this delightful community. Local artisans produce pottery, stained glass, prints, wood turning, photographs and other beautiful crafts. Handmade jewelry is always a draw for visitors. Glass, handstitched quilts and handcrafted furniture displayed in the Tybee Art Show and Sale provide visitors the chance to buy a unique handmade home accent, which is sure to be a talking point in your home or garden.
As well as browsing the stalls of local artists there are plenty of art demonstrations, live music and door prizes to get everyone in the mood for having fun.
About the Tybee Arts Association
One of the reasons for the Tybee Art Show and Sale success, and for Tybee Island tourism in general, is down to the hard work and dedication of the members of the Tybee Arts Association.
This talented, fun-loving group of locals organize a range of social events for the Tybee Island community throughout the year, from concerts and live music to drama and comedy performances.
They host workshops, summer camps and art classes teaching techniques using different paint mediums. They also host a number of the Tybee Art Show and Sale events, so there’s never a dull moment.
The mission of the Tybee Arts Association is to support art in the community which takes many different forms. This year they have been busy raising money to purchase art supplies for local schools and encourage youngsters to turn their hand to some creative projects.
In between having fun, the Tybee Arts Association members still manage to create plenty of artworks to go on display at various art shows throughout the year, some of which are only open to TAA members.
The Tybee Arts Association is based in the Tybee Arts Association HQ on Cedarwood Drive where most of the events take place. It’s a great place to find out about local galleries and studios and is a great networking group for artists living in the Savannah area.
